Caring for your Jewellery

Dust and daily wear all conspire to cloud the brilliance of a gemstone and dull the surface of platinum and gold. Avoid excessive impact against hard surfaces, extreme temperature changes and contact with perfumes, cosmetics and household chemicals. Prong settings are particularly vulnerable and should be examined regularly to be sure they hold the stone securely.

We recommend that you bring your jewellery in to your nearest store every 6 months for cleaning and checking. Our trained consultants will make sure that settings are adequately secure and give your jewellery a thorough cleaning.

Between professional cleaning, we recommend the occasional use of a nonabrasive cleaner for diamond jewellery. A mild solution of six parts water to one part ammonia may be applied with a soft bristle brush. Jewellery with stones other than diamonds may need other care.

Tanzanite is ideally suited to dress rings, necklaces and earrings and should not be worn during vigorous activity. Tanzanite should be cleaned with a small soft brush and warm slightly soapy water. Dry carefully. Never use ultrasonic cleaning or abrasive cleaning fluids. Tanzanite should not be exposed to sudden extreme temperature changes. Like all precious gemstones tanzanite should be treated with care and stored in a protective box or pouch separate from other jewellery.
